Life Observed (Part 1)

Updated: May 16

1. You NEVER force someone to apologize. If they want to, they would.

2. You can teach someone without making them feel stupid.

3. You don’t demand respect. It needs to be earned.

4. Sometimes you rather be quiet than proving a point. I’m at a stage where even if you are wrong, I’m going to say that you are right.

5. If being real and truthful makes you the bad person, then so be it. I would rather be hated for being honest than be liked for being fake.

6. Am I the only one who hates the term “fake it till you make it”?

7. There’s a difference between being funny and being disrespectful. Know that.

8. Before giving someone else advice, look at yourself first. Do not be a hypocrite.

9. You do not need to have an opinion on everything. Sometimes it’s best to be quiet instead.

10. If you do not like the environment you are in, change it before it changes you.

11. It’s okay to react to things. It’s okay to be sensitive, vulnerable, and emotional. It shows your strength more than anything else. You are human after all. Embrace it.

12. The more you lie, the more you lose your credibility. You literally become the story of the boy who cried wolf. Not only people would stop believing you, but the truth will slowly but eventually come out.

13. Trust. Yes, you should not trust anyone but yourself. But it’s hard not to trust someone especially if you are close to them. So, what can you do about it? It’s simple. Remember the conversation between SpongeBob and Patrick where SpongeBob would ask Patrick, “What if I break your trust someday?” and Patrick would reply, “Trusting you is my decision, proving me wrong is yours.” Let that sink in.

14. People are people. As much as you want to give them the benefit of the doubt, sometimes you must remove your rose-coloured glasses and see them for who they are.

15. Love is a beautiful thing and to be able to feel it is beautiful too, but people, people are complicated. The generation we are in right now prefers temporary relationships more than a long-term ones. We prefer cheating on our partners than being loyal to them. We are at a stage where I don’t think we know what love is anymore and that is just sad. Where do I find the movie kind of love?

16. Life is short. Say the things you want to say. Do the things you want to do. You do not want to live in regrets. Trust me on this.

17. Not everyone is your friend. Most of them would be a friend in disguise. You do not need to have many friends. One true friend is more than enough.

18. Some of us are not gifted with a healthy family. We must make do with what we have. We must unlearn things. We must deal with our traumas and mental health. The worst part is most people would not be able to comprehend this. Remember, your mental health matters. Always put it first. It takes a strong person to be able to make a change so even if you feel like completely alone in going through this, do not give up because you are not fighting this for yourself but for your future kids too.

19. Food for thought: “Will we ever find the unwritten apologies to find peace within?”

20. Stop talking about my dressing and mind your business. Why do men think that they can tell us what to wear or what not to wear? I really don’t get it. Clothes are just clothes in the end. If you are bothered by what someone is wearing, you need to change your mindset instead and not them changing their clothes.

21. I’ll end it with a dialogue my mum used to say all the time, “Arasan andru kolvan, Deivam nindru kollum” which means that the King will decide the punishment on the same day, and it may be instant, but God will give a long rope to teach us the lesson.

To be continued...
